Fun & Community

“My favorite thing about FMC is that I can play my instrument but still be seen as a whole person with a unique identity.”
– Camper reflection

Building a strong, joyful community is at the heart of life at FMC. By living together in dorms, sharing meals, and participating in recreational activities and all-camp events, campers and staff grow together each summer—creating friendships and memories that last long after camp ends.

Campers enjoy dedicated free time each day, and there’s something for everyone. Some choose quiet activities like talking with friends, reading, making crafts, or playing guitar and singing (which often draws a large, enthusiastic group!). Others prefer to be more active, taking walks around campus or playing games like ultimate frisbee, badminton, or soccer. Dorm lounges are cozy spots for hanging out, especially on rainy days, and are supervised by our caring staff of male and female counselors who also help organize activities.

Evening programs bring the camp together after dinner. Some nights feature staff or camper recitals, while others include games, special speakers on peace and justice issues, or playful events like Capture the Flag, Stunt Night (our funny talent show), and the camper-planned dance. These activities give campers the chance to shine, try new things, and strengthen connections with their friends and the larger camp community.

At FMC, fun and community go hand in hand—helping every camper feel included, supported, and part of something special.
